The Shenyang Jianzhu University Library
The Shenyang Jianzhu University Library was first established in 1948, and the new library is put into use on February 28 ,2005. Situated in the center of the campus , the new library is a six-story building with a basement, covered an area of 25,000 m2, 19 reading rooms with more than 2,500 seats are provided here.
As the research and learning center of our university, the library provides extensive services and a public reading room to the entire university community. The total physical collections are 1,400,000, full-text e-journals in Chinese and foreign languages are over 20,000, and the resources cover the majors such as: civil & engineering, architecture, machinery, materials, information, art, environment etc. The languages include Chinese, Japanese, German, Russian, Hong Kong and Taiwan, approximately 1,600 kinds of Chinese and foreign languages current periodicals and newspapers. Major electronic resources include 19 online databases: EI, CNKI, VIP, PQDD, ASCE, EBSCO, Wangfang Data, Springer, CCPD, ASME, IMechE, Emerald etc, and the Superstar and Shusheng e-books are more than 1,000,000.
To put users' needs in the first place and provide them best services are always the sole purpose of the library .The circulation desk is situated on Floor 1 ,and there are the reference services about all the library guides. Every day the library open from 7:00am to 22:00pm and 15 hours a day, about 105 hours every week. All the readers are be permitted to come into the library freely by showing their campus cards, and the card can be used to borrow books and retrieval resources, and at the same time make one's identity known. There are two electronic resources reading rooms in the library,350 computers,1,200 sockets for connection with internet and 20 retrieval computers free for the readers. In the same time , the library provides two Information Commons for the users with notebooks. The integrated management system"MELINETS" is running on Sun Fire servers.
The library provides high-quality services to over 20,000 full-time and part-time students as well as to the university. Subject librarians service all departments, for example: Document Delivery, Inter-library Loan, Information
Push Service etc.
It is forging ahead with the aim of building itself into a digital library featured in architecture and making great contributions to the development of our university through providing far more information. Knowledge and services for students and teachers so as to help the university become more scholarly.
